The Power of the Human Spirit

The struggles are real, but you must NEVER GIVE UP. Keep going, keep pushing.

“You were born with the weakness to fall. You were born with the strength to rise” – Rupi Kaur

Ever wonder how strong you are? Ever thought about the inborn strength we all have?

I have understood the power of the human spirit to withstand and overcome the most horrific of circumstances. Over the years, I have read stories of other people who have endured tragedies and hardships. I have witnessed people accomplish the ‘impossible‘ when they set their minds to it.

The power of the human spirit is beyond imagination. I think the most beautiful thing in this world is our inner strength. When you witness it, it is unmistakable. It inspires and brings love and joy to our life like nothing else. It turns life’s most daunting challenges into its most amazing revelations of character. Tough times bring out the greatest of love, friendship and compassion toward our fellow human.

Tough times always define us in life. We can be proactive, yet it is how we respond to change and adversity that make us into the men and women we are. Your inner strength is your outer foundation.

I believe every person has the inner strength to overcome the obstacles in their lives. But some people have trouble tapping into that ‘force’ within us.

When you face adversity after adversity, it can get very hard to stay optimistic. Your view of persistence may change.

It gets very hard to remind yourself that you are strong and that you can get through when you are going through setbacks after setbacks, pain after pain, failure after failure. These are the times when our spirits shrink. But that doesn’t mean it can no longer soar.

“The human spirit is never finished when it is defeated. It is finished when it surrenders” – Ben Stein

Remember the time when your life fell apart and you didn’t know what to do? It was as if you had lost all meaning in everything. It was the lowest point you had ever been at in your life. But then, you gathered all your faculties and persisted. You pushed harder than you had ever pushed before in your life. It was an extraordinary moment.

That is the power of the human spirit. We are relentless.

Man’s inner strength can indeed raise him above his outward fate. Here you are, living, despite of it all.

It is the human spirit inside of all of us that has an enormous capacity to survive.

Never underestimate the power of the human spirit

The human spirit holds strength beyond measure, the kind that will break down the walls of all the blocks that come our way. Get ready to be inspired by the words of Dr. Josette Biyo, a Filipino educator and former executive director of the Philippine Science High School System:

What made me win in this international competition? What made me stand out from among the best teachers in the world? My road to attaining this international recognition is a very long 23 years of improving and harnessing my craft as a teacher. I consistently study and learn new skills to improve my method of teaching. I want my methods to be interesting, relevant, and fun for students.

Believe in yourself. Believe in what you are doing. Believing, however, doesn’t mean you have to stop from where you are now. Believing is improving your skills and maximizing your potential. With determination and the will to win, you can conquer the world.

Indeed. The human spirit has no limits. If you dream big, and you have the determination and the will to pursue your dream, it will become a reality.

Josette Biyo showed that the human spirit is power that waits only to be unleashed.

Unlocking the power of the human spirit

Deep down in the human spirit, there is a reservoir of courage waiting to be discovered. To unlock the potential of your powerful human spirit, you must realize your beliefs are everything. Our beliefs, attitudes, and behaviours are key to our success and wellbeing. Here are the words of Bobbie, who is experiencing some trouble with his eyes:

As difficult and complicated as my life has been, taking care of my eyes has always been simpler than caring for my spirit.

I have been vividly aware of the power of Thought. Every “thought” I have entices me away from this very moment.

Regarding eyesight, I can’t see what I could see in November, but I can still see. I may lose more sight, very likely actually, but fretting is a pointless waste of time. I have all my support systems in order, so all I need to do now is enjoy life.

Now my mantra is, “Why not?” I can walk, so I walk. I can see, so I draw. I have ten good fingers, so I write. Life is what we make it!

We can’t always make matters better, but we can always, always make them worse

So inspiring.

This is what strong will, determination, and consistency does. And how important it is to have a support system throughout life.

Nothing takes more courage than putting yourself back together again. The positivity in embracing the good in it, seeking joy and focusing on the good is very commendable. But that is the power of the human spirit.

The world gives you so much pain and here you are making gold out of it, there is nothing purer than that.

At the end of the day, we can endure much more than we think we can.

Life is tough, but so are you. Oftentimes, we want to throw in the towel. It is just too much to bear. Too much pain and struggle can make any person break. But you can overcome any challenge.

Why You Shouldn’t Give Up In Life

Oftentimes, we want to throw in the towel. It is just too much to bear. Too much pain and struggle can make any person break. But you must realize difficulties are meant to rouse, not discourage. The human spirit is to grow strong by adversity.

If you are in a “dark place” right now, and feel like giving up, remember there is a LOT of inner strength inside of you.

It can help to remind yourself of your strengths and potentials so that you can overcome the negativity that creeps into your mind.

We can improve our strength by working on our perspective of life and trying as much as possible not to focus on the challenges in life. Focus on yourself instead – your strengths. Know that you have it in you to overcome any challenge.

The truth is, there are no constraints on the human mind, no walls around the human spirit, no barriers to our progress except those we ourselves erect.

Do not let your mind whisper fear constantly into your heart. Keep going, keep pushing.

Do you think some people are born stronger than others. The truth is, we are all different but blessed with the same human spirit.

We must realize we are more than just this physical body and our capacity for courage, love, and persistence can bend reality.

When you believe you are the victor, not the victim in your own story, everything is possible. Although the beginning is always the hardest and we may be tempted to give up midway. But when your beliefs are strong, nothing can stand in the way.

When next you are told, You Can’t, put your head up, and shake it off. You are a lion. Always remember that.

  4. Great post. We, as humankind, are always wobbling around. Despite that we persevere if that’s the path we have chosen. Living to fulfill intention is always a challenging task, yet we all know people who could give up and yet don’t recognize that as an option. Seven times down, eight times up!!!

  5. Very insightful and I agree wholeheartedly. Our struggles, and our persevering through them, build our character and let us be able to empathize and sympathize with others. Honestly, whenever I see people who have had no struggle, just easy, easy all through life, I often also see selfishness and a lack of caring for others. Not always, mind you, but often. When those who have it easy, easy all the time but make it a point to dedicate some of themselves to those less fortunate, this doesn’t hold true. Excellent t, encouraging article.
