The hardest test in life

Most of the time, when we get upset with what is happening in our life, especially when things don’t go as planned, we begin to lose faith in ourselves, forgetting that what is lying around the corner, might be the best for us, even if it doesn’t seem that way. You just have to trust in the process.

The pieces of our life don’t always have to make sense, as they fall. But at the end of the day, when we look back, we realize the pieces fell exactly as they should have; in the right places.

Sometimes, we need to allow life to unfold on its own, and stop trying to connect the dots each step of the way. If we can do this, then we are giving ourselves the opportunity to grow.

Most times, the best things in life are gotten through patience. One moment of patience may ward off great disaster. Trust me, when the right time comes, it will be very beautiful, and totally worth the wait.

I know it is so hard to wait, but sometimes, that is all you can do. It will all make perfect sense, someday. So, never make a hasty turn, that might take you down a much worse road.

Patience might be bitter, but its fruit is sweet. To wait, is a key to life. So, for now, smile at the pain, laugh through the tears, and just keep going.

  1. Sound advice ‘Coach’. Though I know it’s not often easy to have patience – I have the t-shirt. However, now I’m older and in a better place, I am much more patient in lots of ways. I step back a bit before I make big decisions like whether to by a new car or to ‘pull’ someone up for what I might have seen as a slight against me.
    Thank you for the reminder.

  2. A couple things to share. I think this post comes from age and wisdom of trials, it’s hard for us to hear this when we are young.

It helps if we have faith. I remember back in the 80’s there was a zero vacancy rate in Vancouver, I was newly married and looking for a place to rent to move out of my parents basement.
I was driving in New Westminster and I made a wrong turn onto a dead end street. I started to pull a quick u-turn but my friend said, Don’t! Maybe God wanted you to drive down this street.
So I drove down this short street mainly to humor my friend.
I was stunned when I was driving at the end of the block as an apartment manager was pounding a vacancy sign into the grass out front.
    That was our first apartment.

    True story.

    1. Hello Freethinker and dfolstad58,

I concur with both of you. Thank you for your thoughts and insights.

I would like to inform you that I have a great deal more to add to the wisdom regarding waiting for the right or best moment in my very protracted post at https://soundeagle.wordpress.com/2013/03/18/soundeagle-in-best-moment-award-from-moment-matters/

The said post is best viewed on a large screen of a desktop or laptop computer, since it could be too powerful and feature-rich for iPad, iPhone, tablet or other portable devices to handle properly or adequately.

Though my said post is very long and encyclopaedic, the navigational menu there can help you to jump to any section of the post instantly so that you can resume reading at any point of the post over multiple sessions in your own time.

Please enjoy my post to your heart’s content!

  4. When I find myself ‘upset” over life it is always because I am not accepting that things are exactly they way they are and can not be another way. There is no other version of the present moment. My experience tells me that everything is exactly the way it needs to be. Now if I can apply that!
    Thanks for this post.

  5. Wise principles here, Free Thinker! I couldn’t help but notice that your thoughtful advice is supported by scripture. For example: Romans 8:28 encourages us to trust God’s process and purpose in our lives, Proverbs 3:13-15 reminds us of the value of wisdom (that often comes by experience), and Galatians 6:9 affirms the value of patience and perseverance. Perhaps you agree: God does offer us the way to a full life–not mere existence.

  6. This is something I’m realizing more and more. Even my “mistakes” have a purpose, whether redirecting my path or just teaching me what not to do. I still worry about the future and try to weave my plans, but I’m trying to remember that just because things don’t go the way I think they should doesn’t mean they haven’t gone the right way.

    1. Beautiful.
Our mistakes do have a purpose, and we shouldn’t be so quick to give up, just because things don’t go the way we want them to. Although the future can be so uncertain, but I think it’s best to worry less. 🙂❤

  7. The present is always the moment we should give our full attention. You can only live in the here and now. I think that hoping for the pieces of our life to fall a particular way – like worrying about “being successful” or finding love – this is exactly what takes us away from the present moment – where true peace is to be found. It’s important to know that pain, like everything else will pass because nothing is permanent, but equally important to know that we can deal with it in the present. Counter point – maybe patience isn’t what we need but a greater understanding of what’s available to us in the present. Curious as to what you think about this? I believe we already have what we need, it’s just maybe we can’t see it because we’re waiting for something else.

      1. No problem – I enjoy your wiring and always welcome the discussion. My feeling is there is no perfect black and white answers. Only different shades of grey. Collectively I think we should look at becoming less wrong as thinking in terms of being right. Look forward to the next post!

  8. There is an old saying, “All things come to him who waits.” A wiseacre added, “Yeah…gray hair, wrinkles…” Of course, there are sayings with opposite meanings. “Seize the day!” “You snooze, you lose!”

Thank you, Free Thinker, for reminding us of the importance of patience. I know I need to be more patient. Take care. Cheryl
