Escaping Depression through Art
Many people tend to express their emotions through different kinds of art. I have a difficulty to find the right words many times, while I can easily take some pictures.
Taking pictures is in one of my many ways for practicing mindfulness. Because I manage to be here and now at least for the time when I take the picture. It’s a way to escape the darkest thoughts, at least for a minute.
Depression doesn’t look the same with everybody. I’m switching between numbness and feelings of sadness and desperation, always combined with plenty of suicidal thoughts.
Many would probably expect to see some dark art from artist who is in such dark moods. But the reality can be a bit different.
We can see plenty of pictures on social media and we have our own perceptions about the background of the pictures. But only the person who took them knows the real story. Not everything is as it seems, but sometimes it’s exactly that.
It’s good to stay open and not judging things by the first impression. Life is not black and white, it has colors too.
