First, it hurts, then, it changes you…

The darkest nights are when the stars shine brighter.

Almost everyone has faced difficulty we know nothing about. Pain (very unpleasant circumstances) can be a great motivator for people to change. Some people never change until they feel a little pain. Something in their life must be uncomfortable, or unacceptable, before they will consider doing something new, unfamiliar or different.

Trauma or pain, can provide us with a lot of energy and focus. In other words, some people use pain to motivate themselves. They view stressors as positive challenges, rather than threatening problems.

In a way, you will be happy that you were bullied as a kid, because it made you learnt a great deal about compassion towards others. It also help you see the humanity in each person you meet, on your journey here on earth. Sometimes, we go through the worst, to get to the best.

We are all humans, dreaming of living a good life. Everyone has been through something that challenged them, that hurt them, or changed them, or broke them. So, you have to believe that each day will be better.

There are no disappointments in life, only lessons learned. We all have a story. You are a motivational speaker, probably because of the pain you went through in the past. You studied medicine, because you once suffered from a terrible illness. You are able to write great poems, because of the pain you feel in your heart. Some people became counsellors, because they were once abused.

So, no more regrets. Those challenges was a part of your GROWTH PROCESS. You are wiser and stronger now.

    1. You’re absolutely right.
Our pain will truly become our wisdom one day.
The learning approach is really what matters.
Thanks a lot for your comment.

  1. This is such a painfully glorious truth!

Every time I go through a season of extreme pain, I wish I could skip it and wonder why I have to endure it.

Every time I get out on the other side of that same season, I wouldn’t want to undo it. I’ve changed. I can always see the good that God has brought out of it – after the fact, of course. 🙂

    1. You’re not alone. Almost everyone wish they could skip it too, Sara.
It’s good to know you’re able to see the good that God always bring from the pain.

  2. “…the Father of mercies and God of all comfort… comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God” (2 Cor. 1: 3-5).

  3. Awesome post! Very well put! I can relate! I’m a published Author of four books and an Advocate for the bullied, because I was bullied horribly. Being bullied also taught me compassion for the underdog and how to spot a liar a mile away! I agree that pain can put us on the right path and give us our calling in life!
Thank you for this great post!

  7. It sounds terrible, to have a broken, unhappy childhood to learn to feel compassion. I would choose a different way to learn epic and compassion. And childhood is a start in life should be winged. I’m from those people who don’t want pain. They agree if it must be, but they don’t need pain to motivate themselves. Man, however, is a strange creature. Best regards Barbara from Gdańsk

    1. I appreciate your thoughts, Barbara.
Honestly, life is full of unexpected and unwanted situations/challenges.
Believe me, no one wants to be motivated by pain, but when it does happen, we have to try to overcome it.
